Unified partners (individuals without intellectual disabilities) train and compete as a teammate alongside Special Olympics athletes on a Unified Sports Team (either on a school or community team). Unified partners can be any age! There is no better way to combine a love of sports with the rewards of being of service than by becoming a Unified partner with Special Olympics Southern California!

Responsibilities:

Announce awards in collaboration with Awards Venue Manager.

Responsibilities:

Assist with preparing and distributing medals to athletes during awards ceremony.

Responsibilities:

Assist with taking apart venue and bocce courts. 

Responsibilities:

Assist with various needs as assigned by competition director.

Responsibilities:

Assist with preparing and distributing lunches to athletes and volunteers.

Responsibilities:

Renders first aid, additional patient care, and triage within his/her scope of practice and professional standards, assignment of work, and capability of the location.Must possess a current EMT certification.

Responsibilities:

Keep record of scores on designated court as reported by bocce official.Work with competition director to tally scores at end of competition.

Responsibilities:

Assist with setting up venue and bocce courts.Assist with setting up tents, tables, chairs, and signage.

Responsibilities:

Assist bocce official in monitoring competition.

Volunteer Responsibilities: 

Award Set-Up Organize medals Stage Athletes

Volunteer Responsibilities: 

Assist with breakdown of Basketball Venue. Provide support to GMT and Staff to ensure venue needs.

Present National Colors during Opening Ceremony

Ensure process is followed in which teams/athletes check-in at the competition venue upon daily arrival.Follow protocol set for teams to follow to ensure that they check-in upon arrival at the venue.Track team arrival in order to assist with any scheduling issues (i.e. a team has not checked in prior to competition); alert the competition organizers of any teams not present for competition.Assist with any general Team Registration issues relative to competition.

Volunteer Responsibilities: 

Cheer on athletes from all teams as they compete!

Assist with set-up and layout of courts. Guide athletes and coaches to their courts. Act as a floater between skills to ensure smooth transitions. Encourage athletes as they compete.

Morning shift: 

Serve as Torch Bearers for the Flame of Hope during Opening Ceremony

Afternoon shift: 

Award medals and ribbons to athletes

Volunteer Responsibilities: 

Have lunches organized by teams with accurate number for each. Help with distributions of lunches.

Volunteer Responsibilities:

Renders first aid, additional patient care, and triage within his/her scope of practice and professional standards, assignment of work, and capability of the location. First Aid and CPR certification minimally needed.  

Serve as an official photographer of event. Shift may include Opening Ceremony, sponsors, Healthy Athletes, volunteers, fans, families, and sports competitions.  
Please Note: You must have your own photography equipment. Ideal to have equipment suited for action photography in various lighting situations, including low-light areas.

Volunteer Responsibilities: 

Serve as a time/scorekeeper or supporting other sports related functions.

Volunteer Responsibilities: 

Assist with setting up of Basketball Venue. Provide support to GMT and Staff to ensure venue needs.

Volunteer Responsibilities: 

Assist with games and activities in the athlete festival May include setting up equipment, running festival station Encourage athletes to have fun and play games

Volunteer Responsibilities: 

Assist staff with checking in volunteers throughout the day.

Train athletes during scheduled practice times as well as accompany team to competitions. Create and maintain a positive and fun environment for all athletes. Commitment: This position requires approximately 2+ hours per week for an 8-10 week season. Instructions: Click on the REGISTER button (top right or bottom right) to start the process. You will need to complete and submit all required qualifications. Once you have submitted all qualifications, you will need to click on the REGISTER button again to complete your registration.
